Thames Velo is a small racing club for cyclists of all ages. It was formed with a view to doing enough to justify being a club without getting deeply into the politics and obligations of committees etc. so that members can get on with riding their bikes and racing. The membership is drawn mostly from the East Berks and South Bucks area and every member is an active cyclist.

We have a strong Road Racing ethos although we also ride Track and Time Trials (especially events such as Hillys and 2-ups). We are affiliated to British Cycling and the CTT, members affiliate individually to Reading Track League and Surrey League.

We promote 2 Road races each year, the main events are our Spring Road Races at Great Milton, the other event is our duty promotion at Hillingdon where we take a turn at running the Saturday senior events. Because we are a small club, all members are expected to be available to help, and they do.

The club currently has 27 members, of whom 2 are Life Members and 2 are ladies. The age range is from 18 - 69. Amongst the 25 First Claim members there are 11 BC racing licences and 6 LVRC Licences. As the club grows our range of interest has broadened but our core interest is still Road Racing and prospective members are reminded of this.

We are currently looking for a new sponsor. If anyone out there is interested in supporting a Cycle Racing Team and at the same time gaining the long term publicity that comes from having the team train and race in the sponsors colours, together with as many column inches as we can generate in the local press, please contact the General Secretary now.

New members are welcome, go to the join page or why not come along to one of our club runs at the Pond House PH at 10am on a Sunday to ride with us. We meet in the pub car park which is on the A4 to the west of Maidenhead.
